Tax Expert

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
We’re looking for a Tax Expert to join our Finance department based in Barcelona HQ. In this role, you will be responsible for all tax matters in Spain reporting to the Tax Director of Southern & Eastern Europe. This includes meeting all statutory and reporting obligations for taxes on time, implementing local tax initiatives in line with Global policy, instructions and guidelines, to optimize Unilever’s tax position.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Provide business decision support, advising the business on tax impacts of business decisions and day to day actions.

• Deliver tax compliance with the support from the finance team and 3rd party providers. This includes support to central teams to design local compliance processes and develop the compliance agenda, and validation of the tax returns prepared by 3rd parties, etc.

• Support the Tax Director in planning by identifying, collecting, and consolidating relevant financial information, agreeing on projects and milestones, and tracking and reporting the progress.

• Oversee tax audits, including managing the relationship with the tax authorities, informing stakeholders on emerging issues and developments, and help the Director developing the audit strategy as well as the trade-off between settlement and litigation.

• Support the proper assessments of current and future risks, and implementation of appropriate policies and procedures, in line with Unilever’s Global policy.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics or Law

• Minimum 5 years of tax experience in a large corporation or accounting firm, ideally within the FMCG industry

• Strong knowledge of Spanish tax, accounting and prior tax auditing experience is essential

• Ability to work independently in a complex matrix organization

• Experience with international and cross-border tax issues is preferred

• Fluency in English and Spanish is a must
