JOB TITLE: Assistant Manager R2R & Tax

LOCATION: SINGAPORE

Working in a Financial Controlling Team will give you broad exposure to the rest of the business as you build partnerships with the business as a trusted change agent, actively driving the risk management agenda for the business. You will have the opportunity to develop project management skills and will get exposure to expertise areas such as tax, treasury and pensions.

The Assistant Finance Manager – Financial Reporting will be a value custodian, ensuring accounting records are properly maintained and complied with corporate accounting policies, Standard Chart of Account, IFRS standards, and local specification regulations. The candidate will join a team of four, reporting directly to the Head Accountant (UAPL and UI). The candidate will be a subject matter expert for accounting policies and will be work in close collaboration with GCAD and Operating Centre in Manila. Together, they will provide advice to stakeholders and finance teams on subject matter expertise for specific sub-processed within the global operating framework. You will prepare and review financial reports accurately and timely, that are compliant with group accounting, fiscal and statutory requirements at country, PMU and corporate level, as well as ensure tax compliance based on statutory regulations. You translate financial accounting into management reporting for value-accretive decision-making. This role partners regularly with Global Tax, Global UI, Global Procurement and other Business Units based in Singapore.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with accounting standards (UL APM and IFRS).

  • Audit Lead and Management: Liaise with external auditors and lead finance teams in the Statutory Financial Statement completion. To support accurate reporting with full compliance to statutory requirements.

  • Month-End Close Responsibilities: Coordinate and execute month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.

  • Lead and deploy global initiatives and control enhancements, including a design of change management program and internal & external stakeholders’ management. This includes enhancing our digital capability to ensure continuous improvement in our reporting quality and value.

  • Initiate and lead process simplification and efficiency improvement within responsible areas

  • Perform Financial statements analysis (P&L trends and B/S review) in greater details with incorporation the business insights, to define the unusual records, mis-presentation and wrong accounting treatment, and potential adjustments.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to support financial decision-making and strategic initiatives.

  • Tax

    • Provide tax support and advice to various levels of business capabilities

    • Provide tax support, tax considerations and support structuring of tax operations on M&A and/or divestiture projects

    • Manage tax dispute resolutions, audit support, tax inquiries and communications with taxing authorities in partnership with the internal stakeholders/capabilities, global tax team and external advisors

    • Provide oversight and review to the controller's organization for the accounting and financial statement presentation of the businesses tax positions

    • Work with business partners and manage external advisors to ensure compliance with all tax disclosures, tax filings and reporting requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in financial accounting and reporting and/or audit experience.

  • Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and standards.

    • A value custodian, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial information.

    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Strong stakeholder management skills.

    • Team player with the ability to collaborate effectively with wider teams for success.

    • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.

    • Prior audit experience preferred.
