ABOUT PROCUREMENT

Part of the Supply Chain family, Procurement is responsible for over 30B Euro of material and services spend globally with more than 60,000 suppliers, over half of them in MBS. Getting the right services and materials, sustainably sourced and ensuring responsible procurement is critical to ensuring our brands with purpose grow. Our teams work closely with the business to understand stakeholders’ needs, bring innovation to meet changing consumer, employees and customer’s needs, and drive financial value for Unilever through competitive buying. We’re at the forefront of digital procurement, bringing new tools and analytics to drive data-based decisions.

Our Procurement Lighthouse Strategy focusses on multiple pillars of competitive buying, partnerships, superior availability, sustainability and value chain interventions underpinned on the key enablers of People, Digital & Culture.

ABOUT MBS

MBS, Unilever’s Marketing and Business Services Procurement team, is responsible for Unilever’s sourcing and supplier strategy and execution for all third party spend across Marketing, Business Services, and IT, supporting the business requirements of our Brands, Business Groups, Business Units and functions to drive sustainable growth through strategic supplier management, cost and value management, sustainability, and innovation, aligned with Unilever’s GAP 2030 Strategy. The team manages an annual spend of ~11 Bn Euro with a supplier base of about 30,000. Within MBS, the Marketing Spend is around € 6 Bn across all portfolios of Creative Agencies, Digital & D-Com, Ad Production, Field Force, POSM/Premiums etc. within ATL and BTL space.

Tracking the effectiveness of our marketing investments and identifying opportunities to drive to the next level actionable insights and efficiencies is a continued area of opportunity and enabler for driving real competitiveness for our brands.

The ROMI Manager is an exciting new position which will work hand in hand with our consumer marketing insights team, the global marketing team and procurement portfolio leads. They’lll be expected to understand each portfolio’s value chain, the necessary frameworks and data points for MMM/tactical analysis and conduct thorough return vs. Investment analytics to establish clear internal & external benchmark wireframes.  Whilst, collaborating with various finance and marketing teams to build a roadmap and case for tracking and improving returns on the marketing investments. 

The ROMI manager needs to focus on data acquisition, analysis, curating actionable insights and most importantly – how this all translates into increased efficiencies. This is a critical role in supporting Unilever in investment decision making based on performance, but also how Unilever will pay its partners.

The role is as much about data & analysis, creating actionable insights as it is selling and strategy work.  You’ll be in the room with Marketing & Procurement Leadership Teams to inform and build long-term strategy, big unlocks and digital/tech transformations with the primary focus on driving efficiencies in our sourcing and portfolio management.

WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE

  • Understand the business needs related to € 6 Bn spend and bring deep expertise and insights across the detailed value chain and supply base to translate the business requirements into effective future-fit procurement strategies.
  • Support portfolio leads in driving ROMI across all marketing and portfolio strategies., Marketing Procurement Strategy and Business Group (BG)/Business Unit (BU) priorities.
  • Support our existing MMM tools with additional pipelines and detailed supplier operational data. Translating the results into actionable insights.
  • Together with key business functions and the procurement teams, deliver transformational sourcing strategies, operating models, and supplier relationships that help drive UL’s GAP 2030 Strategy & efficiencies in marketing investments across all media and marketing channels.
  • Support delivery against financial targets and other KPIs (including value delivery) as per business plan objectives, accountable for delivery of results from all BGs and BUs globally.
  • support SRM to unlock value leveraging ROMI as a growth engine as part of Unilever Partner to Win strategy.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders globally, to support business, MBS and Procurement priorities and enable rapid alignment and deployment.
  • Lead rigorous execution of the priorities and transformation initiatives across the globe E2E.
  • Future proof the ROMI agenda and strategy by driving digital approaches, while building technology enablers to help manage selected portfolio and scope, while driving impactful sustainability agenda.
  • Support internal performance management and reporting including creation and stewardship of relevant key performance indicators.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED

Experiences & Qualifications

  • Bacheloor’s Degree.
  • Fluent in English. Spanish is a plus.
  • Procurement experience, including proven and deep experience in overall Marketing procurmeent of ATL and BTL portfolios or related field or indirect procurement portfolios.
  • Strategic sourcing, portfolio strategy expertise, with experience in managing complex portfolio/categories, at a global or multi-regional level.
  • Expert in data & analytics, reading data and coming up with strong insights incl. From MMMs;
  • Strong understanding of marketing E2E value chain and associated tech including latest tech advancements.
  • Understanding of the financial implication of marketing investments and ramifications.
  • Understanding of supply market, value chain, and FMCG knowledge.
  • Experience in stakeholder management.
  • Experience of business facing roles, problem solving or project management.
  • Demonstrated and proven leadership capabilities to lead a virtual global team.
  • Experience in shaping and leading transformational business process reengineering, with experience driving Change Management initiatives.
