Purpose: The Tax Assistant will support the Senior Tax Manager based in Singapore on Cambodia and Laos tax matters encompassing all tasks related to direct and indirect tax matters for Unilever entities in Cambodia & Laos. The role will assist the Tax Business Partner on day to day management of tax related matters and act as the first point of contact for advice for the operating and holding companies within Cam & Laos.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist and support Tax Business Partner in responding to tax queries raised by the business

  • Review monthly and annual tax/semi-annual CIT submissions  

  • Review quarterly CIT accruals per timeline

  • Assist Tax Business Partner in group tax reporting tasks

  • Support Tax Business Partner in tax audits

  • Support Tax Business Partner in coordinating, managing and advising on local/global projects from Tax perspective 

  • Monitor tax regulations changes/updates

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Good knowledge of tax accounting, tax compliance and all types of tax returns

  • Good inter-personal and communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects/processes simultaneously.

  • Ability to develop strong personal and team relationships across a multitude of business stakeholders.

  • The ability to interpret and explain complex legislation to non-specialists.

  • Experience in tax accounting, tax risk management and transfer pricing is a strong plus

  • Time and project management skills, including a strong bias for action

  • Flexibility in mindset and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
