Main Job Purpose

South Asia Manufacturing Excellence is one of the most pivotal functions, standing to ensure that, manufacturing provides a real competitive advantage for Unilever in the dynamic environment of demand through achieving competitive cost, providing high service level to customers/consumers, and delivering outstanding performance in safety, quality, productivity, sustainability standards, through its strategic partnering with manufacturing units & functions.

This Assistant Manex Manager role would be instrumental to drive continuous improvement programs across B&W sites, as well as expansion of the same to strategic CMs, Suppliers, & DCs. The purpose of this role would be to drive all data management for Manex programs of continuous improvement including Asset Efficiency, Labour Productivity, Technical Efficiency, Make Agility, & Sustainability across B&W own & CM units. This includes both Target setting as well as ongoing performance reviews.

Keeping in view Digital as a key enabler for landing the above, the role is expected to drive E2E digital programs at own units, keeping the rigor of continuous improvement at the core.

As UMS coordinator for SA, she/he will be responsible for the coherent application of UMS methodologies across the sourcing units. Working under the guidance of the BG Manex Manager, she/he will apply rigorous cost deployment to convert losses to cost, using loss trees and associated tools. This analysis will support the prioritization of equipment, training, &process interventions (4Ms) to eliminate losses.
The UMS Coordinator role will be the leading practitioner for AM/PM/FI activity and Kaizen. This involves teaching of problem-solving tools and their frameworks, facilitating the application of best practice as well as sharing of lessons across the sourcing unit. She/he provides Teaching, Coaching and Mentoring on UMS methodologies for all site Manex leaders.

Key Skills and Responsibilities:

Data Management for ManEx related KPIs:

  • Target setting, reporting and performance analysis of KPI's in Make like OEE, Waste, DBNR, Production cost etc.
  • Create /Use various dashboards like MDCS, SRS, RTVA etc.
  • Set governance across these KPI's for to identify hot spots and actions against hot spots.

Drive Manex edge program to deliver Net productivity agenda for (own B&W  sites & key CM):

  • To drive Asset Efficiency improvement Program, Labour Productivity Improvement Program, Waste reduction Program & DBNR improvement Program, 5s Improvement and culture change.
  • Usage of Benchmarking for gathering insights around continuous improvement of KPIs, savings opportunity through Manpower/ OPC/Energy benchmarking exercise
  • Use Net productive tips to generate replicable savings idea for Homecare sites.
  • Setup regular cadence with the sites Manex & finance teams to drive key Unispark projects across sites along with SUIT leads and ensure they are rightly captured in SRS.

Digital Factory:

  • Drive Digital Factory Plan Implementation for the relevant use cases. Drive Buildapp adoption across B&W sites.

UMS roll out across all the sites as per SA ManEx Strategy

  • She/he will lead all UMS activity roll out in the SA cluster.
  • Full Operating knowledge of UMS pillar structure and how pillars inter-link to deliver and sustain real business impacts. Inculcates the UMS philosophy of eliminating losses and waste across SA site Manex leads. Plan Implementation for the relevant use cases. Drive Buildapp adoption across B&W sites.
  • Teach, coach & mentor site Manex leads to utilize all necessary UMS tools, Linking these to reduction of losses.
  • Lead pillar connects & Facilitate UMS workshop.
  • Co-ordination with Global Manex team and roll out new interventions in UMS/Global Manex initiatives for SA cluster.
  • Conduct UMS assessments. Gap identification and prepare sites for migration to Advance as per plan.
  • Value creation for UMS launched sites to meet site masterplan ambitions.

Business Awareness: - Understanding of the business scenario to meet changing demands and drive Manex edge activities to support business value creation.

Other Requirements:

  • Must have knowledge of Power bi, ChatGPT and other AI apps(preferable).

Professional Qualifications:

  • Educational background with B.Tech., Manufacturing Excellence certifications preferred.

Experience Required:

ESSENTIAL:

  • 4-5 years of experience in factory operations. Successful experience of leading manufacturing teams.
  • Proven experience in SC with a track record of delivering new capabilities.

PREFERRED / DESIRABLE:

  • Experience as a team member within a project Management team with an awareness of project management tools/techniques.
