CATEGORY/FUNCTION INTRODUCTION

You will join the Home Care Business Group Regulatory Affairs team, which is a highly diverse set of Regulatory experts with many years of experience in the Home Care regulatory space. The team is made up of >30 individuals from all over the world.  We are housed within the Home Care Research & Development function and work together with the newly created Safety, Environment and Regulatory Science central capability.  The team prides itself on living the Unilever values and delivering continued successes for the Home Care business.

The Home Care Turkey Regulatory Affairs Lead is a critical role within the Home Care Regulatory Affairs team. This position is responsible for setting and delivering the Home Care Regulatory strategy for innovations, overseeing the creation and execution of the Turkey’s technical advocacy plans, and ensuring regulatory compliance for all Home Care products in Turkey.

WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE

INNOVATION/COMPLIANCE

  • Provides regulatory review and assessments for Home Care products to be marketed in Turkey
  • Is expert on regulatory developments which could affect the Turkey Home Care products and ensures that these developments are incorporated into the innovation plans
  • Can be the issue leader of topics related to own expertise and Turkey business
  • Contributes to Global Home Care Regulatory Affairs (RA) network:
  • The FPOC for regulatory compliance for Turkey business and oversees the 3rd party supporting the compliance for UNICA
  • Define, build and maintain regulatory rules and knowledge for appropriate Regulatory tools
  • Operate regulatory compliance business processes such as registrations, direct contact with Authorities for product audits and post-launch compliance challenges
  • Develops the Turkey regulatory dossiers as necessary
  • Works with the Regulatory Authorities as required e.g., Detergent/Biocide legislative controls, regulatory development discussions on HC relevant legislation.
  • Develops and co-creates claims together with delivery of guidance and guardrails on specific claims areas
  • Anticipates regulatory challenges for the future which could drive the external influencing agenda for Turkey Home Care as input for the advocacy agenda and innovation plans
  • Works with R&D, external RA experts/consultants as required to enable successful product launches related to Home Care innovation projects.

ADVOCACY

  • Creates and agrees agenda of the regulatory advocacy program together with identification of ownership with relevant stakeholders.
  • Drives the Turkey position on specific regulatory advocacy topics and related communication plan with other functions
  • Defends Unilever positions in the face of new regulations or amendment in regulations
  • Drives for change in regulation or establishing new product regulations
  • Is project leader; setting goals, plan as required
  • Stakeholder management and reporting (internal as Business Partner, external as advocate)
  • Inputs into Home Care Global RA strategy
  • Ensures cascading into RA and its interfaces and supports internal requests
  • Develops and maintains excellent interfaces with internal and external relevant partners
  • Represents Turkey RA in other Unilever functions (SERS Capability, External Affairs, Legal, …) on assigned topic(s)
  • Strengthen/build networks as required (with regulators and relevant Key Opinion Formers / stakeholders)
  • Has direct contact/represents Unilever in external bodies; e.g., Trade Associations, Alliances / Coalitions; expert working group, key influencers, etc.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED

Experiences & Qualifications

  • Minimum BSc, preferably an M.S. or PhD in Chemistry, Toxicology, Biological Science, Environmental Science, Regulatory Toxicology or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience within an FMCG environment with expertise in Turkey Home Care legislation such as Detergent Regulation, Biocidal Product Regulation, CLP and Turkey REACH (KKDIK).
  • Proven track record in active collaboration with R&D and non-R&D functions as well as 3rd parties in support of innovation programmes.
  • Proven record in driving the advocacy agenda by interacting with, and influencing trade associations, regulatory authorities, NGOs, and other key stakeholders.

  • Pro-active self-direction with a high level of initiative and persistence and a very much hands-on approach to results delivery
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to assess regulatory risks and opportunities and the impact it has on the existing and innovation portfolios
