Location: Covington, TN

Starting Pay: $28.00 Per Hour – Paid Bi-Weekly

JOB PURPOSE:

The SHE Coordinator facilitates Environmental, Health and Safety functions and provides leadership on front line SHE activities.  This position is a key leader on the Central Safety, Health, & Environmental Committee and Safety Champion program.  The coordinator will perform or lead many of the activities associated with those teams.  These functions include a variety of duties and responsibilities that are directly, or indirectly, linked to the safe production of the highest quality ice cream products possible.   

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop SOP’s and provide training on SOP’s and track completion of training 
  • Provide Coaching to teams to ensure engagement of safety during Shift Handovers.   
  • Develop shift turnover safety topics  
  • Observe LOTO activities throughout the department 
  • Develop stretching program for shift turnovers 
  • Develop and lead safety training on a variety of topics including new hire orientation.  
  • Conduct incident investigations, identify root cause and implement corrective actions (SEWO) 
  • Coordinate and facilitate SHE programs for the facility. 
  • Implement and track completion of safety programs such as SBOs with leading indicators, Deep compliance audit, ladder inspections, permit adherence, PPE audits, etc. 
  • Assist in recognition programs.  
  • Coach employees at all levels of the organization to drive SHE improvements and continuous education. 
  • Assist Departments on Reviewing and creating Lockout / Tagout and AEM procedures. 
  • Provide guidance on Machine guarding design and fabrications. 
  • Develop a strong understanding of ergonomics.  
  • Conduct audits and inspections of work areas, develop corrective actions and follow-up on completion of findings. 
  • Play a key role in maintaining compliance with Unilever’s SHE PAR and E Par processes. 
  • Responsible for communicating and demonstrating the importance of achieving SHE results and initiatives.   
  • Maintain SHE Scorecards.  
  • Observe line start-ups and shutdowns to ensure safety measures are taken to minimize risks. 
  • Complete guarding assessments and develop guarding check lists 
  • Assist department personnel with spill response of raw materials and chemicals 
  • Must be willing to become a first responder 
  • Must be competent in all permitting activities from creation to execution  
  • Must be willing to become trained on all PIVs in the factory 
  • Must be willing to complete Incident Commander training 
  • Assists new hires with obtaining appropriate PPE (steel toe boots, glasses, etc.)

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

SKILLS:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+ years’ experience in Safey Department or  related field 
  • Training and/or experience managing industrial networks such as Ethernet/IP, ASi, DeviceNet, etc…
  • Previous food manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Must be physically able to work in restricted spaces to access machinery and equipment components.  Frequent standing and/or walking are required.  Must be able to use body members to work, move, lift or carry heavy objects or materials.  Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for active work.
  • Ability to read and understand instructions, documents, and memos.
  • Requires the ability to add and subtract totals, multiply and divide in all units of measure (English and Metric), using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Must be able to determine percentages, time and weight and compute ratios.  Must have the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width, and shape.  Must have sufficient visual acuity to properly place and align components.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Work is regularly performed near moving mechanical parts in a production setting.  Work is frequently performed in high places and near conveyors and there is frequent exposure to hot, wet and humid conditions.  The incumbent may also experience frequent exposure to sharp metal objects, hot liquid food products, caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock as well as fumes, dust, mold and mildew in the atmosphere.  Protective equipment must be worn when exposed to the aforementioned conditions. Work is performed in close proximity of moving forklift tractors.

Noise levels may exceed 80 decibels and hearing protection must be worn.

In addition, there will be exposure to allergens such as dairy, eggs, tree nuts, coconut, peanuts, wheat (gluten), soybean and cinnamon.There will also be exposure to chemicals and gasses such as ammonia.
