JOB PURPOSE

The Customer Operations Finance Manager is a key role within the Supply Chain function, working in close collaboration with the Logistics, Customer Service, and Planning teams. This position acts as a Finance Business Partner within the European Customer Operations team, with a primary focus on Logistics.

Based in Athens, Greece, the role partners with regional logistics teams to support pan-European finance activities across Transport, Warehousing, and Overheads. The primary emphasis is on managing and optimizing transportation costs. The role also offers significant exposure to cross-functional collaboration between Finance and Operations.

This position presents a strong opportunity to deliver value for Unilever by establishing a robust financial framework and identifying optimization opportunities that drive cost savings and service improvements. The Customer Operations Finance Manager will work within a multi-layered team structure and report directly to the European Customer Operations Finance Senior Manager.

WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE

  • Serve as the Finance Business Partner to the Logistics team, providing strategic financial insight and support.
  • Drive the development and implementation of efficient and accurate financial processes, with a particular focus on accruals, forecasting, and results reporting.
  • Analyze financial performance and operational results, identify key drivers, and develop actionable recommendations in collaboration with Logistics stakeholders.
  • Contribute to regional business cases and support the Logistics Finance Manager in the design and implementation of pan-European transport transformation initiatives.
  • Monitor transport efficiency and ensure alignment between operational KPIs and financial outcomes; conduct internal and external benchmarking of transport costs.
  • Assess operational trends and their financial implications to enable optimized contract structures and improved Purchase-to-Pay processes; support key logistics tendering activities.
  • Collaborate with the central finance team on cyclical financial processes, including forecasting and activity-based costing.
  • Establish effective reporting and performance management frameworks to support Market Cluster Organization (MCO) and Category Finance teams, ensuring accurate results tracking and financial transparency.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years experience in Finance, with a strong background in Controlling; experience in FMCG or a similar fast-paced industry is preferred.
  • Fluency in Greek & English, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-changing environment while maintaining strong governance and prioritization frameworks.
  • Demonstrated capability to quickly absorb new information and apply advanced techniques, technologies, and procedures to improve operational efficiency.

  • Business Acumen: Strong commercial understanding with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Analytical Thinking & Problem Solving: Skilled in integrating diverse data sources, drawing meaningful conclusions, applying root cause analysis, and designing effective solutions.
  • Technical & Communication Proficiency: Advanced user of Microsoft Office tools, excellent communication and presentation skills to engage cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Drive & Initiative: Highly motivated with a strong sense of ownership, proactive in overcoming obstacles and delivering results without waiting for direction.
  • Team Collaboration: Strong team player who contributes actively to team goals, shares best practices, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge exchange.
