The Unilever Future Leaders Program (UFLP) is a global initiative enabling Unilever to build a strong talent pipeline that will support and lead our business growth. In the UK, our UFLP is a 36-month rotational leadership development program for which we recruit top-performing undergraduate talent who demonstrate the potential to become managers within our business. It’s designed to grow you into a manager, through hands-on learning alongside world-class experts. You’ll be hired into a function and develop your leadership skills by working on live projects which offer you all the experience you need to become ready for your first management role. At the heart of it, it’s about developing tomorrow’s leaders, today.
From Day 1, you will take on real business challenges within your own function and across the organization. Along the way you will develop deep core professional skills and leadership skills, and build a robust support network. On top of all that, you will have a lot of fun along the journey.

What will I be doing?
You’ll be joining the UniOps function. UniOps touches every area of the business providing internal core services and enabling Unilever to respond to the big technological challenges all businesses face these days; for example, the buying trends of millennials or the need to be agile in a fast-changing world. The range of opportunities available in UniOps is vast, and some of our current future leaders’ placements have included Innovation & Sustainability Tech, Information and Analytics / Data Engineering and even Customer Development (Sales), just to name a few. We aim to provide experiences which deliver the relevant expertise for your chosen stream, as well as the commercial experience needed to develop future leaders that will enable Unilever to win in the marketplace. Our purpose is to transform the way we make a difference to the lives of our people worldwide, and to power a consumer centric, future ready, and data intelligent business through disruption, digital innovation, and agile acceleration. You could be working with our technology partners like Microsoft, Amazon, and SAP, driving the delivery of a global programme, or working with niche technology start-ups and industry innovators to solve business and sustainability challenges.
What do we look for?
We look for ambitious, self-starters with a passion for technology and business. You’ll possess strong people skills and be a proven team player. While there is no specific degree background required across any of our streams (many of our senior leadership didn’t start out in Technology!), an interest in forward-thinking innovations and technology that enables real business growth is a must!
What will the scheme involve?
This three-year world class development scheme is packed with variety and challenge designed to lead you through to your first managerial position. We offer three streams (see further info below) to enable our future leaders to develop varying levels of expertise within key technology areas, whilst accelerating their business acumen, commercial awareness and leadership potential. You will complete six different placements including an optional out of function rotation within both our Cross-function and Technology Streams, while in D&A you’ll be immersed in three extended 1-year placements designed to build depth of expertise. You will be required to be location flexible across the UK within all streams.
The final twelve months of the scheme are more personalised for each individual. This allows you to tailor your career path with experiences that align with your purpose, passions and future goals, whilst continuing to develop your skills and expand your network.
Cross-functional Stream: In this stream we look to develop future leaders who are able to think about the experiences we provide to our employees, consumers and customers. An example placement within this stream could be within our employee experience team, who are responsible for everything an employee touches, from the physical workplace and technologies used within it, to the leading edge applications designed to give Unilever a competitive advantage by making employees’ day to day lives simpler and more productive.
Technology Stream: In this stream we look to develop a genuine passion for business, brands and technology as well as being excited by digital developments. This includes experiences in core technology areas such as cyber security, cloud computing, data and analytics, usually implementing new technology developments on a global scale.
Data and Analytics Stream: In this stream you will develop deep expertise in data and work with cutting edge technologies in the cloud, allowing you to bring actionable insights to our business which will allow Unilever to grow, be more competitive and make sustainable living commonplace. You will be immersed in experiences across data analytics, data science and data engineering, leveraging the vast scale of information available at Unilever.
