As a Project Engineer, you will manage the end-to-end delivery of site capital projects. These projects will encompass a wide range from safety, quality, infrastructure, energy improvement, savings, capacity, Innovation, and equipment improvements. You will lead projects to deliver improvements for utilities systems and infrastructure as well as sustainability. Involvement in the process and packing areas of the plant, although not the primary focus, would also be within the position’s scope.
Who You Are & What You’ll Do
You have great technical expertise to design affordable & technically viable solutions to different business problems to be tackled via engineering, and you make use of contractors, when necessary, to provide additional expertise to design and detail the technical solutions. You really look at engineering from the lenses of avoiding capital rather than spending capital, working very closely with the factory team to improve operational safety, costs, efficiency, and overall environmental impact.
As a successful candidate, you will:
- Be responsible for all aspects of the planning and day to day management of assigned projects
- Execute projects utilizing Unilever Manufacturing System (UMS) and Early Equipment Management (EEM) processes along with standard / best practices associated with project management
- Develop project scope, cost, timeline, and resource planning through stakeholder alignment and engagement
- Communicate clearly and effectively across the organization with teams and stakeholders
- Seek and address feedback and input from teams within and/or outside of the factory to address improvements/weaknesses from previous similar projects, including in areas such as safety, operational efficiency, equipment maintainability, quality, and environmental impact
- Engage and manage third party engineering and construction teams to meet project needs
- Maintain project scope, budget, quality, and schedule throughout the full life-cycle of each project
- Implemented solutions that are optimized to deliver the intended capabilities at the lowest project life cycle cost
- Engineer safety into each project through risk management and construction safety
- Work with maintenance teams to ensure training and spare parts are planned
- Ensure successful integration of the project into the operations of the factory

The position is responsible for cost estimating, analyzing options, building business cases, critiquing designs, managing construction, installation, commissioning, and handover with minimal supervision.

You drive capital efficiency by constantly looking at ways to improve costs to implement projects and looking at alternative technical solutions, besides working together with the site to sweat the assets, finding ways to extend the operating life of equipment, improving efficiencies, lowering environmental footprint, and lowering operating costs.
You’re a culture and change champion: You provide and stimulate creative solutions to technical problems, rapid transfer of best practices, and you drive capital efficiency embracing outside-in mentality and willingness to experiment and collaborate. What You’ll Need to Succeed
Essential
- Education: B.S. in engineering (ME preferred) or equivalent education with demonstrated working experience
- Experience: 2 - 5 years’ experience in related Project Engineering in FMCG or other related industry or gained in an engineering consultancy company
- Demonstrated project management experience of 2 - 5 years
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; along with the ability to negotiate.

Desired
- Demonstration of coordinating interdisciplinary engineering packages with keen knowledge of industry standards
- Experience with drawing/ document systems such as CAD, MS Project and proficiency in MS Office suite of tools.
- Understanding of plant utilities systems, including process heating, steam, compressed air, chilled water, cooling water, electrical distribution, and wastewater treatment systems
- Understanding of energy efficiency technologies and sustainability strategies
- Knowledge of UMS and EEM methodologies including experience with creating equipment URS (user requirement specifications) and authoring and executing FAT (factory acceptance test) protocols.

Pay: The pay range for this position is $67,000 - $100,500. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.
Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.
Long-Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
